I was born in 1969 in İstanbul. I started medical education at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1985. I completed medical school in 1991 and started residency in ophthalmology at Marmara University. I passed ECFMG examinations and obtained USMLE certificate in 1994. After I completed my residency training I did my military service between 1996 and 1997. I returned to Istanbul and started working in Beyoglu Eye Training and Research Hospital. I worked in various departments of subspecialization until 2000. Starting from the year of 2000 I began working in the area of retina. I worked for 10 years in the Retina Department of the same hospital. I obtained the degree of associate professor in 2010 and began working at Istanbul Research and Training Hospital as the assistant clinic director. I quit this position in 2012 and started private practice in an eye hospital in Istanbul. I worked at Liv Hospital/Ulus between 2014-2019.
I worked as professor of ophthalmology at Istinye University between 2016-2019. In the mid 2019 I started working together with Prof. Dr. Ziya Kapran in Neoretina Clinic. I have 29 articles published in international ophthalmology journals and many articles published in Turkish national journals, most of which are in the area of retina. Abstracts of the international publications can be reached on Pub-Med web page. I actively participated in many national and international ophthalmology meetings. I had the chance of working with the Turkey’s best surgeons and opinion leaders in ophthalmology. I witnessed the rapid development of ophthalmology in the last 30 years. I performed a wide variety of ophthalmic surgeries including intracapsular cataract extraction, penetrating keratoplasty, dacryocystorhinostomy, LASIK, strabismus surgeries, Ahmed’s valve implantation, microincisional cataract and vitreoretinal surgeries, Argus 2 retinal prosthesis implantation and many more. I speak English (advanced), French (intermediate-advanced) and Italian (intermediate level). I am married and have two children.
